e-Learning Development e-Treat 25-28 August 2010

by Helen Walmsley.

e-Learning Development e-Treat

When: 25 Aug 2010 - 27 Aug 2010

Venue: Online

Are you planning to write some new e-Learning materials over the summer? Are you considering spending some time reflecting on and developing some online learning activities you’ve been using with students? Would you like to work with a like-minded online group for support and to share your experience?

The Best Practice Models for e-learning community is running an online retreat – an e-Treat - for lecturers and e-learning developers for 3 days in the summer (25 – 27 August 2010) and we would be delighted if you could join us! We will gather to share our plans, discuss our ideas and pair up with an e-buddy. There will be lots of time to set aside for thinking, reflecting and creating as well as virtual coffee, wine and beer! There will be access to learning technologists, e-learning experts and librarians for advice and some optional presentations on key e-learning design topics. You will be able to report back to the group on your progress at the end of each day to help motivate and offer feedback to each other.

We won’t be able to provide a secluded hotel, freshly-prepared food and walks in a woodland with views over mountains/lakes for inspiration, but we will offer a low-carbon virtual ‘space’, friendly and encouraging support and posters for your study/fridge (for your friends and family!) to help you get the most out of your e-learning development project. If you are local to Stoke-on-Trent you can come and join us in our development area (with real coffee!) for some or all of the e-Treat.

There is no charge for attending, but places are limited, and all participants will be requested to share their blog/summary and/or access to the completed e-learning materials at the end of the e-treat. If you are interested in joining us, please email with a short outline of the project you would like to complete over the 3 days, list any existing support you will have access to, any specialist skills you would be willing to share during the retreat if asked and indicate any particular support needs that would be helpful for you.

To reserve your place, please email me, Helen Walmsley at h.walmsley@staffs.ac.uk
